Designing Culture

Power of the words

Quoted from graphic designer: Luka Pensa, (http://www.pictoico.com/): We live in visually cluttered world. From ads and billboards, over devices and gadgets, all the way to cars and buses, there are innumerable attempts to communicate with us the visual way. However, most of these attempts fail what they intend. We have been trying to properly communicate the visual way all the way from prehistoric days. Fast forward to today's reality still shows a lack of proper manners in communication: being simple, easy to understand, quick and effective in conveying the message.
The current trends of advertisements are no longer copy-driven. Images create visual clutter and thus results in the ad cluttering. Quoted from the University of Tasmania, School of Psychology (http://fcms.its.utas.edu.au/scieng/psychol/project.asp?lProjectId=2283): “Although a picture may be worth a thousand words, the spoken words of a story can sometimes provide richer information about other people’s feelings than might be learned from the pictures alone.”
